St. Peters

The commute to Rome started out frustrating. After breakfast, we headed to the metro and bought our tickets to get to the train station, only to find out that the metro was not working. After searching forever for how to use the bus system and where to buy a ticket, we finally opted for a taxi. We got to the station and headed to Rome.

The walk to the Airbnb was nice—not uphill, and no stairs to climb! So much better! On our way, we stopped and shared a pizza. I have to say, it was good, but not as good as what we ate in Naples!

After resting a bit, we headed out to look around and get some dinner. We ordered Cacio e Pepe (spaghetti with black pepper and Pecorino Romano) and a bottle of wine. They recommended a white wine, which paired perfectly with the dinner. It was very good! It is made with the water that the noodles were boiled in, which makes for a creamy sauce!

After dinner, we went for a walk. We saw St. Peter's Basilica as the sun was going down. It was amazing! We walked around a canal, heard live music, and stopped to listen. It was the perfect evening!

Tomorrow's adventure is to explore Rome, go into Vatican City, see what other sights we can find, and end the evening at the Sistine Chapel!

Oh oh the stairs to our first AIR BNB!
